Drew MacIntyre Announces Retirement

After 18 years of playing professionally I am officially hanging up the pads!drew macintyre

I could not be more grateful and thankful for this amazing ride that has brought me all over the world and has allowed me to meet and establish relationships with so many wonderful people. There have already been such amazing messages from everyone which I truly appreciate so much.

I want to thank all of my former teammates, coaches, trainers and staff from all the 24 jerseys that I was honoured to wear.
Thank you to my amazing parents and supportive family, all my incredible goalie coaches, summer trainers , my agent and friend Thane Campbell, and all my friends who cheered and encouraged me along the way.

The jersey that I enjoyed wearing the most is that which says that I am on Christ’s team . I thank the Lord for every up and also every down. I thank Him for loving me enough to teach me lessons through this game and I thank Him for Hockey Ministries International and all the amazing team chaplains from a lot of those former teams who He put in my life and helped shape Karen and I into the people we are today.

To my beautiful wife Karen and amazing daughters Mullen and Sallie. Your love and support has meant so much more than you will ever know. Thank you for the sacrifices you have made and for always cheering Daddy on and making me feel better after a loss.

My career was on its 9th life a few times but thank you to my girls and everyone who helped me push through , battle and enjoy the ride.

Thank you to the people of Japan , my two teams Nippon Paper Cranes, and Oji Eagles. It was such a amazing way to finish my career and I thank you for the way you have treated me and my girls. Thank you to my Eagles teammates for your hard work and dedication in getting the championship this year!

I can’t wait to see what is next but I thank you all for your love and support!

We assure you total commitment and dedication to your career as you pursue your goal in professional hockey.
